Description of key information

Under the conditions of the test, the test substance had no inhibitory effect on the respiration of microorganisms from sewage sludge (3h-EC50>100 mg/L).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Activated sludge from a waste water treatment plant treated mainly domestic sewage were exposed to the test substance at nominal concentrations of 0, 1, 10, 100 mg/L according to OECD 209 testing guideline (1984). 3, 5-dichlorophenol was used as reference material at 3, 10 and 32 mg/L (nominal concentration). The 3h-EC50 value at 100 mg/L (based on nominal concentrations). The EC50 of the reference substance was comprised between 5 and 30 mg/L.

This study is classified as acceptable and satisfies the guideline requirements for toxicity to microorganisms study with Activated Sludge. Under the conditions of the test, the test substance had no inhibitory effect on the respiration of microorganisms from sewage sludge.
