Additional information

As reported in SCOEL/SUM/178 of December 2012 for N-methylaniline no data were available regarding the absorption, distribution, metabolism or excretion of the substance in the human.

The dermal application of the substance in the rabbit is lethal (see Treon et all, J Ind Hyg Toxicol, 31:1-20, 1949) and it is expected that N-methylaniline is ready absorbed through the skin. As reported in HSDB Report of N-methylaniline with reference to Goodwin, B.L. Handbook of Intermediary Metabolism of Aromatic Compounds. New York: Wiley, 1976., p. 421 the substance yields aniline and p-methylaminophenol in rabbit.

In dog after intravenous injection N-methylaniline is quickly transformed in nitrosobenzene (see Kiese et all, Naturwissen-schaften 46:384, 1959 mentioned in SCOEL/SUM/178 of December 2012of N-methylaniline).

N-methylaniline was quickly excreted in urine after intraperitoneal administration in rat (28 mg of NMA/kg and 85% excreted in urine in 24h -see Greim et all, Gesundheitsschädliche Arbeitsstoffe, Toxikologisch-arbeitsmedizinische Begründungen von MAK-Werten, Loseblattsammlung, 23. Lfg. DFG, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, WILEY-VCH Verlag, Weinheim, 1996 mentioned in SCOEL/SUM/178 of December 2012 of N-methylaniline).
