Conclusions:
The surface tension of a test solution at 90% saturation in water has been determined to be 38.7 mN/m at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C. The test substance is considered to be surface-active.
Executive summary:

The surface tension was determined using the ring method of OECD TG 115 and EU Method A.5. The surface tension of a test solution at 90% of the test substance saturation solubility in water has been determined to be 38.7 mN/m at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C. Substances showing a surface tension lower than 60 mN/m under the conditions of this method, should be regarded as being surface active.

Description of key information

Surface Tension: 38.7 mN/m at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C in 90% saturated solution, ring-method: OECD TG 115, 2016

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Key data : OECD TG 115, 2016 : The surface tension was determined using the ring method of OECD TG 115 and EU Method A.5. The surface tension of a test solution at 90% of the test substance saturation solubility in water has been determined to be 38.7 mN/m at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C. Substances showing a surface tension lower than 60 mN/m under the conditions of this method, should be regarded as being surface active.

The applicant has assessed the data with regards to the criteria under OECD TG 115 and EU Method A.5 and by expert judgement considers the result to be reliable; not a ‘false-positive’ surface tension measurement as a result of the contribution of surfactant minor constituents (reference: ISO 4311-1979 method).
