Freshwater acute toxicity tests have been carried out on algae, daphnids and fish. EC50s, for the standard test durations, set respectively at 190, 60 and 99 mg/L (based on nominal concentrations of test material: being a complex UVCB, no measurement of initial/final concentrations were possible). From the algae test, a chronic NOEC of 22 mg/L could also be calculated.

A second chronic NOEC was determined through a daphnia reproduction test. A NOEC of 32 mg/L has been established, as being the highest test concentration. At this level, no effect on survival of parent daphnids was observed along the 21-day duration of the study.

This is coherent with the acute toxicity test on daphnia, where no immobilisation was recorded in 48 hours at the lowest tested concentration of 39 mg/L.

Given the pattern of use of the substance (a fertiliser) where no emission to water is expected, and animal welfare consideration, in view of the above results, it was felt not scientifically justified to carry out a fish chronic toxicity test.
