Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The molecular structure of the components of the substance do not contain functional groups known to exhibit oxidising properties (ECHA Guidance Table R.7.1-29, 2008).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

The test substance reacts with oxygen to its diacid. Both the structures of the original compounds and the reaction products were taken into account and do not contain any group that might act as oxidizing agent. The oxygen atoms that are present in the chemical are bonded to carbon, which indicates that the molecule is oxygen-deficient.

It is not to be expected that an interaction between the different components occurs resulting in an oxidizing chemical.

This is valid for both UNOXOL(TM) 3,4 Dialdehyde Purified Grade (Heptanes content < 0.1 % wt) and for UNOXOL(TM) 3,4 Dialdehyde Crude Grade (Heptanes content ca. 6.0 % wt).

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test substance reacts with oxygen to its diacid. Both the structures of the original compounds and the reaction products were taken into account and it was concluded that UNOXOLTM3 ,4 Dialdehyde and its reaction product have no oxidizing properties.
