The acute toxicity of Cashmeran towards Oryzias latipes was investigated according to Japanese Industrial Standard K0102-1998-71 under GLP. Fish were exposed to nominal concentrations of 0.375, 0.75, 1.5 and 3.0 mg/l in a semi-static system (renewal of test water every 24 hours) and observed for 96 hours. The 96h-LC50 was found to be 2.12 mg/l.Though the concentrations have not been verified, the nominal concentrations are expected to have limited uncertainty. This is because: 1) a semi-static regime has been followed; 2) the Henry coefficient indicates no or very limited volatility from water and; 3) no hydrolysis or (bio)degradation is expected.
acute fish toxicity studies have been conducted. The key study is taken
into account for deriving the PNEC. The supporting study is a limit
study because only one concentration, 10 mg/l, has been used. In this
study all fish died after 3.5 h. of exposure. The results of this study
are in agreement with the findings of the key study.
