Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The half-life in air is 1.2 h using EPIWIN AOP. This half-life is < 2 days being the cut off for potential long-range transport (http://www.unece.org/fileadmin/DAM/env/documents/2000/ece/eb/ece%20eb%20air.60.e.pdf). The substance does not have an ozone depletion potential because it does not contain halogens and does not have the potential to reach the stratosphere.

Additional information

The photodegradation of Cashmeran was estimated by EPIWIN AOP version 4.10. The estimated rate constants (in cm3.molecule-1.s-1) are 108.2E-12(OH radicals) and 1.14E-17(O3). Combined with estimated ambient atmospheric concentrations, an atmospheric half-lifetime of 1.2 hours is calculated based on a 12-hour daylight period and an average atmospheric concentration of 1.5E6 OH radicals per cm3 (http://www.unece.org/fileadmin/DAM/env/documents/2000/ece/eb/ece%20eb%20air.60.e.pdf).

For reaction with O3, the atmospheric half-lifetime is 24.2 h with 7E11mol/cm3, based on an average atmospheric concentration of 7E7 ozone mol per cm3. These data indicate that the atmospheric lifetime of Cashmeran is sufficiently short that it will not undergo long-range transport to any significant extent.
