As the substance is soluble in water and has a low potential for adsorption, its main target environmental compartment will be the water compartment where it is no expected to persist due to its ready biodegradability potential. Due to its physico-chemical properties (VP = 1.35 Pa atet H = 0.09 Pa.m3/mol), Heptanoic acid is not expected to volatilize and to partition significantly into the atmospheric compartment.
