Description of key information

In contact with water no hydrolysis of acrylic acid was observed.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a hydrolysis study conducted by Ricerca Inc. (BAMM 1990), 14C-acrylic acid was stable to hydrolysis at pH 3, pH 7, and pH 11 at 25 °C. Since 14C-acrylic acid was stable to hydrolysis at pH 3, pH 7, and pH 11, no rate constants or half-lives were calculated. Therefore, hydrolysis will not contribute significantly to the degradation of acrylic acid under environmental conditions.
