From the two available guideline studies (modified Sturm test (OECD 302B, Springer 1998 ) and STP simulation test (OECD 303A, Dr Noack, 2006)) it can be concluded that EPTAC is not readily biodegradable and does not fulfil the EU criteria for classification as inherently biodegradable. However, the removal rate constant calculated from the STP simulation test (0.0347 h-1) is close to the removal rate for an inherently degradable substance, not fulfilling specific criteria (ESR Risk Assessment Report, EC, 2008), according to the criteria set in REACH Technical Guidance Chapter R16.
In other, non-standard tests some removal of CHPTAC has been observed.
