Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
A 96-hour LL50 value of 29 mg/L and a NOELr of 5 mg/L have been determined for the effects of the tested substance on mortality of Danio rerio. The fish were exposed to water-accommodated fractions of the substance.
Executive summary:

An acute aquatic toxicity study was performed on zebrafish (Danio rerio) in accordance with GLP and OECD Guideline 203. Groups of seven fish were exposed to Water Accommodated Fractions (WAFs) of the test item over a range of nominal loading values of 2.5, 5, 10, 25 and 50 mg/L. The total test period was 96 h. The mortality of the fish was determined in a semi-static 96-h test by visual observation after 24, 48, 72 and 96 h.

After the 96 h of exposure, mortality was 0% at 2.5, 5 and 10 mg/L (loading), 14.3% at 25 mg/L (loading) and 100% at 50 mg/L (loading).

Therefore, the 96h LL50 for the test item to zebrafish (Danio rerio) was estimated to be 29 mg/L and. The 96h NOELr for the test item to zebrafish (Danio rerio) was estimated to be 5 mg/L.

Description of key information

A 96-h LL50 of 29.0 mg/L and NOELR of 5.0 mg/L have been determined for the effect of Crude sulfate turpentine on mortality of Danio rerio.
