Overall, the test results indicate that 2,2-Dimethlypropane-1,3-diol is poorly eliminated in sewage treatment plants.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Zahn and Wellens (1975) performed a sewage treatment plant simulation test comparable to OECD TG 303A using activated sludge as inoculum. After 31 days of exposure 5% (DOC elimination) of the test substance were removed from the test vessel.
