Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Beside the key study, which used the computer tool AOPWIN v1.92a to calculate the half-life of trimethylamine in air, two additionally calculations were performed in this context. Atkinson (1986) calculated the half-life using hydroxyl radicals, resulting in a value of 4 hours (indirect photolysis). The other estimation was a calculation of the half-life in air for trimethylamine using an average atmospheric O3 concentration of 7 E-11 molecule/cu-cm. In this case 50 % degradation is expected after 1.2 days by indirect photolysis (Atkinson and Carter, 1984).
