Description of key information

Data of this endpoint is only used in the exposure assessment of man via environment for the substance Creosote oil, acenaphthene fraction (wash oil).
The information specified for this endpoint is publicly available (see below). Data is also included in the quinoline ECHA submission dossier 2010.
The pKa of quinoline at 20°C obtained from the data sources under 'Discussion' is 4.95.

pKa at 20°C:
4.95

Additional information

Dissociation constant/pKa for quinoline was determined in several studies, all of them early, non guideline studies. In two studies, the experimental temperature was 20°C. Determination methods and results are assessed reliable. The pKa of quinoline is derived from these studies as average of both results being 4.95.

Publications:

1.)  Albert A, Goldacre R (1944), Basicities of the aminoquinolines: comparison with the aminoacridines and aminopyridines. Nature 153: 467-469

The pKa of quinoline is determined to be 4.94 at a temperature of 20°C.

The pKa of quinoline is determined to be 4.957 at a temperature of 20°C.
