The substance is not readily biodegradable. However, biodegradation studied in a water-sediment simulation test (Dow, 1995) demonstrated test substance mineralisation of 64% after 60 days of exposure, indicating non persistence of the test item in water and sedimet. Further, as the logKoc is below 3 even if the partly cationic character of the molecule was considered, a low adsorption potential is indicated. Therefore, binding to sewage sludge is unlikely and as a consequence a transfer to the sediment is not expected. Therefore, no tests on sediment dwelling organisms are provided.

In addition, the predicted no effect concentration (PNEC) for sediment was derived from the PNEC for freshwater using the equilibrium partitioning method. Using this PNECsediment, the risk characterization shows that the PEC/PNECsediment ratio for the sediment environment is clearly <1, indicating no need for further information and testing.
