First-aid measures

General information:

- Seek medical advice immediately.

- Ensure that the First Aid Personnel are aware of the product involved, and take precautions to protect themselves (e.g. wear personal protection equipment).

- Remove affected person from danger area, lay him down.

- Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately.

- Keep warm, calm and covered up.

After inhalation:

- Summon a doctor immediately.

- Remove the casualty into fresh air and keep him calm.

After contact with skin:

- Summon a doctor immediately.

- In case of contact with skin wash off immediately with polyethylene glycol 400, then with plenty of water.

After contact with eyes:

- Summon a doctor immediately.

- In case of contact with the eyes rinse thoroughly with plenty of water or with an eye-cleaning solution.

After ingestion:

- When swallowed seek medical aid immediately and show the physician the packaging or the label of the packaging.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

- Alcohol-resistant foam.

- Dry powder.

- Carbon dioxide.

- Water spray jet.

Extinguishing media that must not be used for safety reasons:

- Full water jet.

Special hazards from the substance itself, its combustion products or from its vapours:

- In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed:

  - Carbon monoxide (CO)

  - Nitrogen oxides (NOx)

  - Carbon dioxide (CO2)

  - Sulphur dioxide (SO2)

Special protective equipment for firefighting:

- Do not inhale explosion and/or combustion gases.

- Use self-contained breathing apparatus.

Further information:

- Fire residues and contaminated firefighting water must be disposed of in accordance with the local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

- Use personal protective clothing.

- Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

- Remove persons to safety.

Environmental precautions:

- Do not allow entry to drains, water courses or soil.

- Contain contaminated water/firefighting water.

- If the product gets into drains, inform the relevant authorities immediately.

Methods for cleaning up/taking up:

- Take up with suitable equipment and if necessary collect in closed containers.

- Avoid raising dust.

- Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly, observing environmental regulations.

- When picked up, treat material as prescribed under heading "Disposal".

- Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with the regulations.

- Containers in which spilt substance has been collected must be adequately labelled.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling:

- Provide good ventilation of working area (local exhaust ventilation if necessary).

- Avoid the formation and deposition of dust. Use material in a low dusty form (prills, pellets or similar) only.

- Provide exhaust ventilation if dust is formed.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:

- In principle, with organic products which are -intentionally or unintentionally- in powdered form, the danger of a dust explosion should be kept in mind.

- Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charges - earthing necessary during loading operations.

- Keep away from sources of ignition - refrain from smoking.

- Dust can form an explosive mixture with air.

- Observe the general rules of industrial fire protection

Advice on storage compatibility:

- Do not store or transport together with foodstuffs.

Further information on storage conditions:

- Air- and light sensitive.

- Keep container tightly closed and dry.

Exposure controls / personal protection

General protective measures:

Do not inhale dust. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Hygiene measures:

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wearing of closed work clothing is required additionally to the stated personal protection equipment. Avoid contact of the substance. Do not eat, drink or smoke during work time. Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately and clean thoroughly before using again. Garments that cannot be cleaned must be destroyed (burnt). Keep away from food and drink. Clean hands and face during work intervals and after work Follow the skin protection plan.

Respiratory protection:

No personal respiratory protective equipment normally required. If the occupational exposure limits cannot be met, in exceptional cases suitable respiratory equipment should be worn only for a short period of time. Suitable respiratory equipment: Respirator with a particle filter (EN 143), Half mask with a particle filter P2 (EN 143).

Hand protection:

Choose gloves to protect hands against chemicals depending on the concentration and quantity of the hazardous substance and specific to place of work. Take note of the information given by the producer concerning permeability and break through times, and of special workplace conditions (mechanical strain, duration of contact). Suitable: Protective gloves complying with EN 374. Suitable are nitrile rubber gloves,  butyl rubber gloves. With solid dry substances permeation is not to be expected, therefore the breakthrough-time for this protective glove has not been measured. Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough. Gloves must be rinsed thoroughly after use. In case of preparing or handling of solutions of the substance the properties of the solvent have to be taken into account.

Eye protection:

Tightly fitting safety glasses according to EN 166.

Body protection:

Wear long-armed working cloth. Change working clothes after each workshift. Select clothing according to the amount and concentration of the substance at the working place. Wear as appropriate: Dust impervious protective suit for example, Apron, boots, protective clothing (EN 14605, EN ISO 13982-1, EN 13034). In case of preparing or handling of solutions of the substance the properties of the solvent have to be taken into account.

Stability and reactivity

Thermal decomposition:

- > 250 °C (Heating rate : 10 K/min).

- No decomposition if used as prescribed.

Hazardous reactions:

- When handled and stored appropriately no dangerous reactions are known.

Hazardous decomposition products:

- When handled and stored appropriately no dangerous decomposition products are known.

Disposal considerations

Product:

- Special waste incineration plant, after consultation with operators.

- Observe local authority regulations.

Uncleaned packaging:

- Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as product waste.

- For disposal local regulation is binding.
