"The concentration steps of the test solution were selected so as to give 3-2 EC values in a range between EC0 and EC100, of which at least one value was below and one above EC50.
Details on test conditions:
The test vessels were two 50 mL beakers containing 20 mL solution per concentration for both the test concentrations and the control. Ten daphnia were added to each vessel.
After a test period of 24 h and 48 h, the number of animals in the control and test solutions that were not immobile were counted. After 48 hours the pH was also measured to determine whether the validity criterion was achieved. The dissolved oxygen concentration was also determined at the end of the study to ensure that the validity criterion was achieved.
The test was considered valid when fewer thatn 10 % of control animals were immobile at the end of the study, when the pH remained above 7.0 and the dissolved oxygen concentration did not fall below 2 mg/L at the end of the study.
