Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Water stability has been determined for 2-dimethylaminoethyl acrylate using a OECD guideline study and two non-guideline studies. The results showed that in contact with water 2-dimethylaminoethyl acrylate will hydrolyse rapidly under environmental conditions (t1/2 = 12.5 h at pH 7, t1/2 = 1.21 h at pH 9 and t1/2 = 2.18 h at pH 8.3). At pH 4 no hydrolysis was observed. Products by hydrolysis were acrylic acid (CAS# 79-10-7) and 2-dimethylamino ethanol (CAS# 108-01-0). Photodegradation was estimated using version 1.92 of the Atmospheric Oxidation Program (AOPWIN) that estimates the rate constant for the atmospheric gas-phase reaction between photochemically produced hydroxyl radicals and organic chemicals. The half-life (4.27 h) indicates rapid degradation by photochemical processes after evaporation or exposure to the atmosphere.
