Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The toxicity to freshwater algae was determined as an EC50 (72h) > 51.4 mg/L and EC10 (72h) = 20 mg/L (measured, WSF) for growth rate of Desmodesmus subspicatus (OECD 201)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a GLP guideline study following OECD 201 green algae (Desmodesmus subspicatus) were exposed for 72 hours to Soybean oil, epoxidized, reaction products with methanol [BASF SE, 2013]. Based on the multicomponent composition that is only partially soluble the aquatic toxicity on algae was investigated by using water soluble fractions (WSFs) with a maximum loading of 51.4 mg/L (measured) test item. The 72-h EC10 for growth rate inhibition is determined to be 20 mg/L based on geometric mean concentration (EC50 (72h) > 51.4 mg/L).
