Results and discussion

Results:
Occupational exposure limits (OELs) for the cyanide anion (CN-) derived from HCN, NaCN or KCN are: 1.0 mg/m3 for an 8-hour Time Weighted Average (TWA), and 5 mg/m3 for a 15-minute Short Term Exposure Limit (STEL). Molecular weight corrections for NaCN result in a value of 1.9 for the 8-hour value, and 9.4 for the 15-minute value. A skin notation applies to HCN, NaCN and KCN.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Occupational exposure limits (OELs) for the cyanide anion (CN-) range derived from HCN, NaCN or KCN are: 1.0 mg/m3 for an 8-hour Time Weighted Average (TWA), and 5 mg/m3 for a 15-minute Short Term Exposure Limit (STEL). Molecular weight corrections for KCN result in a value of 2.5 mg/m3 for the 8-hour value, and 12.5 mg/m3 for the 15-minute value. A skin notation applies to HCN, NaCN and KCN.
