Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The surface tension of both constituents of the registered substance have been determined experimentally according to the ring method as described in OECD Guideline No. 115 and EC Guideline A.5. The surface tension of 100% CAS 1118-92-9 has been measured as 30 mN/m. The surface tension of CAS 14433-76-2, which are considered for the regsitered substance, was determined as 65 mN/m, 53 mN/m and 29 mN/m for the three concentrations 2.9 mg/L, 29 mg/L and 290 mg/L, respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The surface tension of both constituents of the registered substance has been determined experimentally according to the ring method as described in OECD Guideline No. 115 and EC Guideline A.5. The surface tension of 100% CAS 1118-92-9 has been measured as 30 mN/m, while the surface tension of CAS 14433-76-2 was determined as 65 mN/m, 53 mN/m and 29 mN/m for the three concentrations 2.9 mg/L, 29 mg/L and 290 mg/L, respectively.

Based on the more detailed results of CAS 14433-76-2, the registered substance is to be considered surface active, as concentrations above 30 mg/L in aqueous solutions reduce surface tensions below 60 mN/m.
