Additional information

Phototransformation in air

Estimated half-lives for the components of this UVCB substance range from 3.1 to 9.4 hours.

Hydrolysis

In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, the study does not need to be conducted as the substance is readily biodegradable. Ether bonds are stable and do not hydrolyse to a significant extent at environmentally relevant conditions.

Biodegradation

Within 28 days, a degradation of 75 % was determined for Diethyleneglycol, propoxylated according to OECD Guideline 301F; and hence Diethyleneglycol, propoxylated is considered to be "Readily Biodegradable" (Currenta, 2009).

Bioaccumulation

With a log Kow ≤3, the substance can be considered to have a low potential for bioaccumulation.

Adsorption/desorption

In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the study does not need to be conducted as the substance can be expected to have a low potential for sorption (log Kow ≤3). The estimated Koc value for homologous components of this UVCB substance range is 10 L/kg for the lowest (least sorptive) and highest (most sorptive) molecular weight homologues. The components of this UVCB substance can be regarded as having low affinity for adsorption to soils and activated sludge biosolids.
