Additional information

For the ready biodegradability of alcohol ethoxylate (C16-18, < 2.5 EO, CAS 68439-49-6), a non-GLP study according to OECD 301B has been assigned as key study (Häner, 2005). Domestic activated sludge was used as inoculum. The substance attained 94 % degradation after 28 days of contact time.

A second study with alcohol ethoxylate (C12-C16 and C18 unsaturated, 2 EO, CAS 68920-66-1) according to OECD guideline 301B and GLP (Fiebig, 2005) has been added as supporting study. After 28 days, the test substance reached 99% degradation.

Hence, alcohol ethoxylate (C16-18, < 2.5 EO, CAS 68439-49-6) can be classified as readily biodegradable under the strict OECD requirements.
