Description of key information

No key experimental study was established.  Therefore,  a QSAR value was generated using the standard method in the TGD (2003). This resulted in a BCF of 243 which is similar to that reported in a CITI study conducted in 1977.

No key study has been established. Data is reported by MITI ( Chemicals Inspection and Testing Institute; Biodegradation and Bioaccumulation Data of Existing Chemicals Based on the CSCL Japan. Japan Chemical Industry Ecology - Toxicology and Information Center. ISBN 4-89074-101-1 (1992) ) using a bioconcentration test method, however the report is not available for review. A QSAR calculation has been performed which indicates that 1,2,4 -trimethylbenzene will not meet the definitive criteria (Part C - PBT assessment) for B (BCF >2000 l/kg) or vB ( BCF>5000 l/kg).
