Biodegradation data for the substance itself and read across to Phenol, 4-nonyl-,branched (CAS 84852-15-3) indicate that Benzaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-5-nonyl, oxime, branched (CAS 174333-80-3) is not biodegradable according to OECD criteria. Inherent biodegradability after adaption of inoculum is assumed in water and sediment based on test results with adapted inoculum and simulation test data with branched 4-nonylphenol. In soil, branched nonylphenol is rapidly integrated into organic matter, such as humin, but slowly mineralized. Therefore, in order to apply a very conservative environmental risk assessment approach, persistence of the substance is assumed in the environment.
