In the key study (Migchielsen 2013a) the toxicity of the test material to fish was determined in a fresh water acute toxicity test with Cyprinus carpio. The study was performed under GLP conditions and in line with standardised guidelines. Fish were exposed at the maximum soluble concentration of the test material, in a limit test under static conditions for 96 hours.

Due to the low solubility of the test material, test solutions were prepared as Water Accommodated Fractions (WAFs) at loading rates of 0.1, 1.0, 10 and 100 mg/L in the range finding test and at 100 mg/L in the definitive test.

HPLC analyses of the samples taken from the WAF prepared at 100 mg/L showed that the measured concentration could not be detected. Hence, the measured concentration was below the concentration present in the lowest calibration solution, 0.16 mg/L. Despite the fact that actual exposure concentrations could not be measured, it was reasonable to assume that the maximum soluble concentration was reached.

Under the conditions of the test, no mortalities or signs of toxicity were observed over the 96 hour exposure period, therefore the LC50 is considered to exceed the maximum solubility of the test material (> 0.1 mg/L). The LC50 and LL50 were determined to be > 0.1 mg/L and > 100 mg/L, respectively. Additionally the NOEC and NOELR were determined to be 0.1 mg/L and 100 mg/L, respectively.
