Description of key information

A 72-h algae growth inhibition test was performed with SrHPO4 according to OECD 201 and in compliance with GLP principles. The test substance solution was prepared as a water soluble fraction of a loading rate of 100 mg/L. Preparation started with a loading rate of 100 mg/L applying a 2-day period of magnetic stirring followed by a filtration through a 0.45 µm membrane filter. The lower test concentrations were prepared by subsequent dilutions of this WSF in test medium. The actual measured concentration of the WSF prepared at a loading rate of 100 mg/L was 16 mg Sr/L at the start of the test and remained stable during exposure. No significant inhibition of growth rate was observed in the diluted WSF (1.0 and 10%). Significant inhibition of growth rate (6.3%) was observed in the undiluted WSF. However, the observed inhibition of growth rate was below 10% and, therefore, considered biologically insignificant. The 72h-ErC10 and 72h-ErC50 were considered to exceed the maximum solubility of the test substance in medium.
