Description of key information

In read across data from a well conducted key chronic toxicity and carcinogenicity study (Biodynamics Inc, 1979c; rel 2), CP42902 (ATMP) was administered via the diet to Long-Evans rats at dose levels of 50, 150 or 500 mg/kg bw/day for 24 months. The NOAEL for carcinogenicity and general toxicity was greater than 500 mg/kg bw/day.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The category hypothesis is that all the members are various ionised forms of the acid 6419-19-8. The main assumption is that potassium is not significant in respect of all the properties under consideration. In dilute aqueous conditions of defined pH the potassium salt will behave no differently to the parent acid, at identical concentration of the particular speciated form present and will be fully dissociated. Hence some properties (measured or expressed in aqueous media) for the potassium salt can be directly read-across (with suitable mass correction) to the parent acid and vice versa.

Read across data from a reliable two year repeat dose study usingnitrilotrimethylenetris(phosphonic acid) reported no treatment related effects at the highest dose tested. (Biodynamics Inc, 1979c; rel 2)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the read across data from the parent acid (Biodynamics Inc, 1979c; rel 2), it can be concluded that there is no requirement for classification.
