Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance 3,5-diiodosalicylic acid is readily biodegradable in nature and hence is not persistent in water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

The substance 3,5-diiodosalicylic acid is 50% biodegradable in water in 38 days (half-life). This value indicates that 3,5-diiodosalicylic acid is readily biodegradable in water since the half life is less than the EPA criteria of >= 60 days (to qualify the chemical as persistent). Hence the substance 2, 2, 2-trichloro-1-phenylethyl acetate is not persistent in water.
