other: air
Details on inhalation exposure:
GENERATION OF TEST ATMOSPHERE / CHAMBER DESCRIPTION
- Exposure apparatus: plexiglass chamber
- Exposure chamber volume: 120 L
- System of generating dust: Airborne dust is generated by a baffled Wright Dust Feed through which air is passed at 30 L/min and 5psi. The dust is directly deliverd to the exposure chamber containing the test animals.
- Temperature, humidity, pressure in air chamber: room temperature

TEST ATMOSPHERE
- Brief description of analytical method used: Airborne dust concentrations are measured gravimetrically approx. every 30 min. The mass median aerodynamic diameter is measured by means of a Sierra Cascade Impactor with 8 stages of glass fiber filters.
- Samples taken from breathing zone: yes

TEST ATMOSPHERE (if not tabulated)
- Particle size distribution: Approx. 76% of the particles (by weight) were 10 µm or less in diameter
- MMAD (Mass median aerodynamic diameter) / GSD (Geometric st. dev.): 4.2 µm/ 3.45
Analytical verification of test atmosphere concentrations:
yes
Duration of exposure:
4 h
Concentrations:
mean analytical concentration was 3.35 mg/L
No. of animals per sex per dose:
5
Control animals:
no

Any other information on results incl. tables

Four hours of exposure resulted in no deaths among all test animals. There were no signs of toxicity during or following exposure. No unusual gross pathology was evident at necropsy.
