Two ready biodegradabilty studies performed according to the OECD 301D guideline are available. After 28 days, the biodegradability was 78% and 83% for the multi-constituent (reaction mass of tert-butylphenyl diphenyl phosphate and di-tert-butylphenyl phenyl phosphate) containing respectively 4% and 2% TPP.

In a river die-away study the half-life of Santicizer 154 - a read-across substance with similar main constituents - in Mississippi river water was found to be 1 day at 24 ºC for constituent t-butylphenyldiphenyl phosphate (t-BuPDPP), whereas it was 7 days for constituent di(t-butylphenyl) phenyl phosphate (di-t-BuPPP) (Saeger et al., 1982).

Further similation testing in surface water, sediment or soil is not deemed necessary as the reaction mass of ter-butylphenyl diphenyl phosphate and di-tert-butylphenyl phenyl phosphate can be considered as readily biodegradable.
