Description of key information

Acetalization product between glucose and C20/22 (even numbered) alcohol” is expected to have a very low solubility as a whole; its measured water solubility is < 1 mg/l.
According to published and estimated data on the water solubility of APG C20/22 and C20/22 alcohols, the UVCB as a whole (glucosides and alcohols parts) is expected to have a very low water solubility (around 1 μg/l)

Additional information

Acetalization product between glucose and C20/22 (even numbered) alcohol” is expected to have a very low water solubility as a whole; its measured water solubility is < 1 mg/l.

Published data on alcohols (1) showed a very low water solubility for C18 alcohol of 0.0011 mg/l (SIDS dossier on 1-octadecanol, 1993b; Budavari, 1996). The water solubility of alcohols decreases with increase of the length of carbon chain, so the water solubility of “Alcohols block” should be reasonably around 1 μg/l.

Furthermore, low estimated values of the water solubility of C20 and C22 mono and di-glucosides were determined by EPISUITE:

- C20 monoglucoside : Log kow (KOWIN estimate) = 6.83 ; water solubility at 25°C (estimate from Log kow) = 0.001885 mg/l

- C22 monoglucoside : Log kow (KOWIN estimate) = 7.81 ; water solubility at 25°C (estimate from Log kow) = 0.0001811 mg/l

Mixture of mono C20/22 glucosides = 12.6% of the registered substance

- C20 di-glucoside : Log kow (KOWIN estimate) = 4.33 ; water solubility at 25°C (estimate from Log kow) = 0.02263 mg/l

- C22 di-glucoside : Log kow (KOWIN estimate) = 5.32 ; water solubility at 25°C (estimate from Log kow) = 0.002142 mg/l

Mixture of di C20/22 glucosides = 2% of the registered substance

So the UVCB as a whole (glucosides and alcohols parts) is expected to have a very low water solubility (around 1 μg/l)
