Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment

Currently viewing:
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The registered substance is considered inherently biodegradable. Therefore it is persistent (P), but not very persisting (vP).

Based on its log Kow of > 6.2 it has to be considered very bioaccumulating (vB). However, predictions (using BCBAF v3.01) indicate that all relevant substances of the UVCB substance do not meet the B criteria:

range of predicted BCFs: 157 - 642 L/kg wet-wt.

Based on the data of a GPC analysis, it can be assumed that not only the three main constituents, which make up the major part of the UVCB substance, but also the remaining 30 % of the composition, containing only high molecular weight constituents/oligomers (dimers, trimers and tetramers) and a relevant minor constituent (> 0.1 %), do not fulfil the B criteria (BCF >2000; log BCF >3.3) and vB criteria (BCF >5000; log BCF >3.7).

Nevertheless, a cautious conclusion is drawn, and the substance is classified as bioaccumulative, although the calculated values give no indication of this. However, considering the upper range of predicted BCF values, it should be reasonable to assume that the substance does not meet the vB criteria (BCF >5000; log BCF >3.7).

Furthermore, none of the criteria for classification as toxic (T) are fulfilled.
