The test substance, p-tert-butylphenyl-1 -(2,3 -epoxy)propyl ether has an LC50 value of 7.5 mg/L in an O.E.C.D. test guideline 203 96 hr rainbow trout study. In a Daphnia magna O.E.C.D. test guideline 202 study the 48 hr EC50 value was 67.9 mg/L. The green algae 72 hr EC50 value in an O.E.C.D. test guideline 201 study was 9.0 mg/L. Therefore, the rainbow trout 96 hr LC50 of 7.5 mg/L is the most appropriate value for developmemt of aquatic PNECs. In addition, this LC50 value results in a Chronic Category 2, H411 C & L of "Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects." The activated sludge respiration 3 hr EC50 value was > 1000 mg/L suggesting no adverse impact upon the operation of STPs.
