Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria

Description of key information

An algae toxicity test was carried out according to EU Method C.3 and OECD Guideline 201 Algae Inhibition Test. Selenastrum capricornutum was exposed for 72 hours to static concentrations of 1, 3.2, 10, 32 and 100 mg/L test item. The obtained NOEC was 0.689 mg/L. The ErC50 and EbC50 were determined to be 61.2 mg/L (95 % confidence limits of 53.6 and 72.0 mg/L) and 30.6 mg/L (95 % confidence limits of 25.4 and 35.2 mg/L), respectively. At highest concentrations the test item was shown to be algistatic.
