Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
biodegradation in soil: simulation testing
Data waiving:
exposure considerations
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because direct and indirect exposure of soil is unlikely
Justification for type of information:
In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, further biotic degradation testing is not proposed as the Chemical Safety Assessment does not indicate the need to investigate further the degradation of the substance and as direct and indirect exposure of soil is unlikely (see chapter 9 of the CSR).
The substance NBDI reacts rapidly with water to form NBDA. Even though NBDA is not readily biodegradable and thus potentially P, it is not bioaccumulative (BCF is 22 L /kg). Furthermore, NBDA reacts subsequently with NBDI to form oligomers which are also not deemed to bioaccumulate based on their larger sizes.
