Description of key information

A study was conducted to evaluate the biodegradation potential of the test substance (of 100 % purity) via BOD5 and COD determination. The ratio of these values was equivalent to 0.01, indicating that the substance showed low biodegradation potential under the study conditions. In another study, activated sludge was exposed at the equivalent of 155 mg test substance DOC/L for 28 d and DOC removal was followed. Under the study conditions, elimination was equivalent to 14 %, suggesting that the test substance was not inherently biodegradable. Based on these results, the test item FAT 40045 is considered as not biodegradable.
