Main study

- Experiment 1: The DSC-curve obtained examined the melting point of the substance. During cooling, an exothermic peak between -50°C and -75°C was observed. The effect was due to crystallisation of the test substance. When heated, an endothermic peak between -50°C and -0°C was observed. The extrapolated onset temperature was -50.59°C. The effect is due to melting of the test substance. An endothermic effect was observed between 225°C and 275°C. This effect was most likely obtained due to evaporation of the test substance. After the experiment it was observed that the test substance was evapourated from the sample container.

 - Experiment 2 was performed to determine the duplicate melting point of the substance. Similar results to experiment 1 were obtained .The extrapolated onset of the melting peak was -51.50°C.

The melting temperature was determined as the average melting temperature obtained from experiment 1 (-50.59°C) and experiment 2 (-51.50°C).

Conclusions:
The freezing temperature of the substance has been determined to be less than 222 ± 0.5 K or < -51.0 ± 0.5 °C.
