Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: see 'Remark'
Remarks:
The reliability is rated 2 because the study followed the standard guideline of reference (EU A.16 method), which describes a procedure designed to evaluate this endpoint. The results were reviewed for reliability and assessed as valid. Nevertheless no information was available whether or not the 0study was conducted under GLP condition.

Results and discussion

Any other information on results incl. tables

There is no measurable self-ignition on the Sepisol Fast Red SN up to measurement temperature of 400°C. An endothermic decomposition starts above 200 °C, the sample is always cooler than the oven.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
In accordance with the DSC measurement, an endothermic decomposition starts above 200°C, the sample is always cooler as the oven. There is no measurable self-ignition of the SEPISOL FAST RED SN up to measurement temperature of 400 °C.
Executive summary:

The purpose of this test was to provide preliminary information on the relative auto-flammability of Sepisol Fast Red SN at elevated temperatures following the EU method A.16.

Approximately 8 mL of the test item is placed in a piece of stainless wire mesh (2x2x2 cm) in an oven at room temperature. Temperature/time curve relating to conditions in the centre of the sample is recorded while the temperature of the oven is increased gradualy to 400 °C.

In accordance with the DSC measurement, an endothermic decomposition starts above 200°C, the sample is always cooler as the oven. There is no measurable self-ignition of the SEPISOL FAST RED SN up to measurement temperature of 400 °C.
