Additional information

N-ethylcaprolactam is a water soluble liquid (WS: > 1000 g/L at 20 °C and pH 11.0) with a low log Pow of 0.6 at 20°C and a vapour pressue of 5.2 Pa at 20 °C. Water is expected to be the target compartment for the substance as indicated by its physico-chemical properties. Abiotic degradation by hydrolysis is not likely under environmental conditions due to the lack of hydrolysable funtional groups. N-ethylcaprolactam is not readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria (2-18 % after 28 days, OECD 301B). Based on the low log Pow of the substance a low potential of the substance for adsorption to soil and sediment particles or to suspended matter is assumed. Bioaccumulation is unlikely to occur. Evaporation from the water phase and a subsequent transportation via air is not expected due to the low vapour pressure.
