Description of key information

The test item triethylmethylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TEMABF4) decomposes at a temperature >= 300 °C without melting.

According to OECD Test Guideline 109 (2012), Regulation EC No. 440/2008 Method A.3. and OCSPP Test Guideline 830.7300 (2002), the relative density D420of the test item triethylmethylammonium tetrafluoroborate at 20 °C ± 0.01 °C (compared to water at 4 °C) is D420= 1.165.

The vapour pressure of the test substance was determined to be 1 x 10^-7 Pa at 25 °C.

TEMABF4 anhydrous was estimated to have a log10Pow value of less than –3.3.

TEMABF4 anhydrous was determined to have a solubility of greater than 2 g/mL of water.

The surface tension of a 1 g/L aqueous solution of TEMABF4 anhydrous was found to be 72.0 mN/m. As the result is greater than 60 mN/m, the test substance is not considered to be surface active.
