Flammability

In contact with the ignition source, FAT 40840/A TE started gleaming. The colour of the gas flame changed to orange. FAT 40840/A TE sustained gleaming for about 12 minutes but gleaming did not spread.

The surface of FAT 40840/A TE turned grayish to black and under the surface the test item remained unchanged.

FAT 40840/A TE could not be ignited with a flame during the preliminary test (contact time of about 2 minutes).

Therefore no main test was performed.

Flammability in Contact with Water and Pyrophoric Properties

Chemical Structure: The appraisal of the molecular structure indicates no risk with respect to pyrophoric properties or the potential of evolving flammable gases in contact with water or humid air.

Practical Experience: Studies were performed in aqueous test systems (e.g. water solubility). The test item did not show any spontaneous ignition or formation of flammable gases performing the study.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
Flammability
FAT 40840/A TE is not "highly flammable" according to the criteria of the guideline.
Flammability in Contact with Water and Pyrophoric Properties
FAT 40840/A TE does not ignite spontaneously when in contact with water or humid air and shows no risk with respect to pyrophoric propeties.
Executive summary:

The study on flammmability of solids was performed according to EU Method A.10. FAT 40840/A TE could not be ignited with a flame during the preliminary test (contact time of about 2 minutes). Therefore, no main test was performed. FAT 40840/A TE is not "highly flammable" according to the criteria of the guideline.

The study on "Flammability in contact with water" was performed according to EU Method A.12. FAT 40840/A TE does not ignite spontaneously when in contact with water or humid air.

Pyrophoric properties (EU Method A.13): The appraisal of the molecular structure of FAT 40840/A TE indicates no risk with respect to pyrophoric properties
