Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
self-heating substances / mixtures
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid

Description of key information

Non-flammable (flash point 144 °C)

Non-pyrophoric

No emission of flammable gases on contact with water

Not self-heating

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

The substance is a liquid therefore the flammability is deduced from the flash point. Based on chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability in contact with water are not expected. The substance is not self-heating, because liquids demonstrate no self-heating properties, unless adsorbed on a large surface.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC)

1272/2008 and they are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification:

The substance is non-flammable on ignition, based on the flash point of 144 °C (ASTM D 93). Based on the assessment of the chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected. The substance is not self-heating, because liquids demonstrate no self-heating properties, unless adsorbed on a large surface.
