Description of key information

Hydrolysis

According to the OECD 111 guideline, the concentration of test samples should not exceed half the water solubility of the test item or 0.01 M, whichever is lower. Study results showed that the water solubility of epoxypropyl neodecanoate, oligomeric reaction products with cyclohexane-1,2-dicarboxylic anhydride and propylidenetrimethanol was shown to be < 0.0103 mg/L. No analytical method was available to support the hydrolysis test at this low concentration level. The test on the hydrolysis of the test item could therefore not be performed and has been waived accordingly.

Biodegradability

The ready biodegradability of the test item Epoxypropyl neodecanoate, oligomeric reaction products with cyclohexane-1,2-dicarboxylic anhydride and propylidenetrimethanol was investigated in an aerobic ready biodegradability study measuring CO2 evolution according to OECD Guideline 301B.The relative biodegradation values calculated from the measurements performed during the test period revealed no biologically relevant biodegradation (6% and 1% in bottle A and B, respectively) of test item. The test item is therefore concluded to be not readily biodegradable (Timmer, 2017).

Adsorption / desorption

The HPLC method using soil-adsorption-reference data was applied for the determination of the adsorption coefficient (Koc) of Epoxypropyl neodecanoate, oligomeric reaction products with cyclohexane-1,2-dicarboxylic anhydride and propylidenetrimethanol. The Koc and log Koc value of the test item at neutral pH was >4.3 x 10^5 and >5.63, respectively.
