Administrative data
First-aid measures
General advice: Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately.
Eye contact: In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
Skin contact: Wash off immediately with plenty of water. Obtain medical attention.
Inhalation: Provide fresh air. Consult a physician.
Ingestion: Call a physician immediately.
Fire-fighting measures
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
Suitable extinguishing media: Dry sodium chloride, Limestone powder, Extinguishing powder based on class B + D (DIN EN 2).
Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons: Water, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Foam
Further information: Be aware of a dangerous reaction with water, if the container is ruptured.
Accidental release measures
Environmental precautions: Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Should not be released into the environment. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.
Methods for cleaning up: Never allow contact with water. Cover spilled material with limestone powder. Use mechanical handling equipment. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.
Handling and storage
Safe handling advice: Handle under inert gas. Never allow water to come into contact with the product. Stored product may form hydrogen gas by hydrolysis.
Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.
Storage
Requirements for storage areas and containers: Keep only in the original container in a cool, well-ventilated place.
Storage stability
Storage temperature: < 0 °C During storage magnesium hydrides are formed.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Additional technical information on the plant: Keep under inert gas. Protect from humidity. Never allow water to come into contact with the product.
Personal protective equipment
Respiratory protection: In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment.
Hand protection: General advice: Flame retardant protective gloves.
Eye protection: Tightly fitting safety goggles
Skin and body protection: Flame retardant protective clothing.
Hygiene measures: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs. When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday. Do not breathe vapour.
Stability and reactivity
Hazardous decomposition products: Decomposes in contact with water (Diisopropylamine)
Hazardous reactions: Reacts violently with water.
Thermal decomposition: 86.1 °C
Note: Forming of magnesium hydrides during storage at ambient temperature. Hydrogene gas may be formed by hydrolysis.
Disposal considerations
Product: If recycling is not practicable, dispose of in compliance with local regulations. Contact manufacturer.
Contaminated packaging: Refer to manufacturer/supplier for information on recovery/recycling.
