First-aid measures

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air; if breathing is difficult give oxygen.

Rest and protect against loss of bodyheat; if breathing

should stop attempt resuscitation; in all cases seek medical

attention.

Eyes: Hold eyes open and rinse well with copious amounts of water;

seek medical attention immediately.

Skin: Immediately rinse thoroughly with soap and water; seek

medical attention in case of skin reaction.

Ingestion: Rinse the mouth out thoroughly with water; immediately drink

copious amounts of water; seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, foam or dry powder.

Product arising from burning: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, hydrogen

chloride, sulfur dioxide and other toxic gases.

Protective equipment: Breathing apparatus with independent air supply and full

protective clothing must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Any spilled substance should be recovered, an industrial

vacuum cleaner is recommended. Any recovered material should

be placed in a tightly closed labelled container. This will

then minimise build up of dust and skin contact. Workers

are advised to take protective measures, including wearing

PPE) during the cleaning process.

Avoid entry of waste streams that are produced in recovering

spillages to soil or sewage drains.

Handling and storage

Handling: Standard precautionary measures concerning chemicals are to

be taken. In all procedures in which there is the

possibility of skin or eye contact, rubber or PVC gloves and

protective goggles should be worn. Avoid exposure to skin

and eyes and by inhalation. When handling the substance and

during production a protective mask should be worn

(combination filter e.g. DIN 3181 P2).

When loading and unloading the dryer avoid contact with

dust. Local exhaust ventilation (LEV) is required to prevent

dust from accumulating. Measures should be taken to prevent

build up of electrostatic charge and the substance should

be kept away from possible sources of ignition.

Take appropriate precautions to keep the substance (and

should the occasion arise, water from extinguishing fires)

from entering the sewage system or the soil compartment.

Keep seperate from foodstuffs and beverages. Wash hands

before breaks and after work. Keep work clothes seperate

from personal clothes.

Storage: The product is stored in tightly closed containers (fibre

drums). Storage areas should be kept in accordance with

standard industrial hygiene practices and away from heat.

All opened containers should immediately be tightly closed

after use. avoid contact with any substance residues found

on containers. ensure any dust is vacuumed up thoroughly.

Waste air should be passed through a suitable duct or

scrubber. Take measures to prevent build up of electrostatic

charge. Keep away from sources of ignition.

Take appropriate precautions to prevent the test substance

from entering the sewage system or soil compartment.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 60L fibre board drums, double lined with antistatic

polyethylene liners, closed with a lever closing ring.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering controls should be used as the primary means to control exposures. Use process containment, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to maintain airborne levels below recommended exposure limits.

Hands: Wear impervious gloves to prevent skin contact.

Eyes: Wear safety glasses as minimum protection (goggles recommended).

Skin: Wear impervious protective clothing when handling this compound.

Respiratory protection: If the applicable Occupational Exposure Limit (OEL) is exceeded, wear an appropriate respirator with a protection factor sufficient to control exposures to below the OEL.
