First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Eyes: To extinguish burning clothing use water. For skin burns
consult doctor and treat as for normal burns of appropriate
degree. After inhalation of fumes inhale fresh air, visit
doctor. See SCHERING brochure "Advice on Safe Handling -
Aluminium Alkyls" page 13.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: SILOXAL is spontaneously flammable. Cover with fire
extinguishing blanket, dry sand, vermiculite or carbon
dioxide exxtinguisher for smaller fires.For large fires use
dry powder extinguishers.Never add water to this product.In
case of total combustion Aluminium oxide, Silicon dioxide,
CO2 and water will be formed. See also SCHERING brochure

Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Employees have to wear special protective clothing while
handling SILOXAL. Dry powder extinguishers should be
installed see SCHERING brochure "Advice on Safe Handling
-Aluminium Alkyls" pages 11-12.
Handling and storage
Handling: Handle exclusively in special containers under inert gas.
Use flameproof impregnated working clothing. Handle
exclusively under inert gas blanket.
Storage: Store under dry nitrogen away from air and moisture.See

Danger other than fire: Reacts violently with water liberating highly flammable
gases; spontaneous ignition, See also 3.10 remarks.
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The product will be used only for industry, where it will
be converted into a catalyst. Recovery for recycling is not
practicable.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Used transport containers will be sent back by the customer
to the producer. The producer disposes of residues.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Dilute with inert hydrocarbon and dispose of by
incineration at a licensed incinerator.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable, the substance will not enter the public
domain.
