Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Inhalation:

Remove to fresh air. If the affected person is not breathing, apply artificial respiration. Induce

artificial respiration with the aid of a pocket mask equipped with a one-way valve or other proper

respiratory medical device. Get medical attention immediately.

Skin contact:

Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. For minor skin contact, avoid

spreading material on unaffected skin. Get medical attention if irritation develops or persists.

Eye contact

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if

present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Call a physician or poison control centre immediately.

Ingestion

If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs naturally, have victim lean forward to

reduce risk of aspiration. Never give anything by mouth to a victim who is unconscious or is having

convulsions. If material is ingested, immediately contact a physician or poison control centre.

Fire-fighting measures

General fire hazards

Irritating and toxic gases or fumes may be released during a fire.

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: Water fog. Foam. Dry chemical powder. Carbon dioxide (CO2).

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this will spread the fire.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Upon decomposition, this product emits carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and/or low molecular weight hydrocarbons.

Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear full protective clothing, including helmet, self-contained positive pressure or pressure demand

breathing apparatus, protective clothing and face mask.

Special fire fighting procedures: Fight fire from maximum distance or use unmanned hose holders or monitor nozzles. Cool containers / tanks with water spray. Stay upwind.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

For non-emergency personnel: Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Do not touch

damaged containers or spilled material unless wearing appropriate protective clothing. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages

cannot be contained.

For emergency responders: Keep unnecessary personnel away. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained. Do

not touch damaged containers or spilled material unless wearing appropriate protective clothing.

Environmental precautions: Prevent further spillage if safe to do so.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Stop the flow of material, if this is without risk. Eliminate all sources of ignition or flammables that may come into contact with a spill of this material.

Large Spills: Use a non-combustible material like vermiculite, sand or earth to soak up the product and place into a container for later disposal. Clean contaminated surface thoroughly.

Small Spills: Wipe up with absorbent material (e.g. cloth, fleece). Clean surface thoroughly to remove residual contamination. Following product

recovery, flush area with water.

Never return spills in original containers for re-use.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid prolonged exposure. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Observe good industrial hygiene practices. Wash thoroughly after handling.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Keep this material away from food, drink and animal feed. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls: Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to control airborne

levels. Provide eyewash station.

Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment

General information: Wear suitable protective equipment. Eye wash fountain is recommended.

Eye/face protection: Wear eye/face protection. Wear chemical goggles.

Wear chemical splash goggles and face shield when the possibility exists for eye and face contact due to splashing or spraying of material.

Skin protection:

 - Hand protection: Chemical resistant gloves.

 - Other: Wear appropriate chemical resistant clothing.

Respiratory protection: Use a positive-pressure air-supplied respirator if there is any potential for an uncontrolled release, exposure levels are not known, or any other circumstances where air-purifying respirators may not provide adequate protection. Protection provided by air purifying

respirators is limited.

Thermal hazards: None known.

Hygiene measures: Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs. Always observe good personal hygiene measures, such as washing after

handling the material and before eating, drinking, and/or smoking. Routinely wash work clothing and protective equipment to remove contaminants.

Environmental exposure controls: Contain spills and prevent releases and observe national regulations on emissions.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: The product is stable and non-reactive under normal conditions of use, storage and transport.

Chemical stability: Stable at normal conditions.

Possibility of hazardous reactions: Not expected to occur.

Conditions to avoid: Avoid heat, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources.

Incompatible materials: Incompatible with oxidising agents.

Hazardous decomposition products: Decomposes on heating.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Residual waste: Dispose of in accordance with local regulations. Empty containers or liners may retain some product residues. This material and its

container must be disposed of in a safe manner (see: Disposal instructions).

Contaminated packaging: Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal. Since emptied containers may retain product residue, follow label warnings even after container is emptied. Do not re-use empty containers.
