TEST MEDIUM / WATER PARAMETERS
- Source/preparation of dilution water: Reconstituted water (ISO 6341), prepared with distilled water. The ratio of Ca:Mg ions is 4:1 and of Na:K ions is 10:1.

Description of key information
No relevant studies are available for decanoic acid, mixed esters with heptanoic acid, octanoic acid and trimethylolpropane. A study is available for closely related structural analogue, CAS 11138-60-6.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Fresh water invertebrates
Fresh water invertebrates
- Effect concentration:
- 100 mg/L
Additional information
A study investigating the short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates of the closely related structural analogue, decanoic acid, ester with 2-ethyl-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol octanoate (CAS-No. 11138-60-6), is available. This study was conducted with Daphnia magna and according to OECD 202. The results provided an EL 50 (48h) > 100 mg/L (WAF loading rate).
A report justifying the read-across approach is included in IUCLID Chapter 13.
