Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

The exposure limits for long-term local effects upon inhalation depend on the physical form of the substance. As the substance is not volatile, inhalation exposure is only possible to particles of an inhalble size. Particle deposition and clearance depend on particle size and solubility. Copper phthalocyanine particles with a measured MMAD of 0.5 - 1.1 micrometer caused no adverse effects in a short-term inhalation study (5 days plus three weeks recover) performed with 3, 10 and 30 mg/m3. From blue staininng by the pigment it was obvious that the pigment was both cleared via the gastrointestinal tract and via lung macrophages.
The generic exposure limit of 10 mg/m3 is considered appropriate for particles of an inhalable size. However, for particles of an respirable size (alveolar fraction), lower threshols need to be applied and national occupational exposure limits need to be observed.
